College Football Betting for Week 1: Sure Winners

As Labor Day weekend approaches, the first big weekend of the college football season is upon us. Between Saturday and Monday, the programs that didn’t play a Week Zero game will get their seasons underway. Speaking of Week Zero, we did think that Northwestern would cover against Nebraska, but we didn’t see the Cornhuskers bungling an onside kick in the third quarter to open the door for a huge Wildcat comeback and straight up win. Nebraska coach Scott Frost was already on the hot seat, but that ridiculous loss in Ireland makes it even hotter. Week One has some terrific matchups, including Ohio State-Notre Dame, Georgia-Oregon and Arkansas-Cincinnati. Let’s look at some college football betting winners that will help you get your season off with some profits.

NCAA News: College Football Week 1 Sure Winners

→ Saturday, September 3

Cincinnati (+6) at Arkansas (3:30 pm ET, ESPN)

Cincinnati looks to make it back-to-back College Football Playoff seasons, but the road is tough without quarterback Desmond Ridder, and starting against the Razorbacks on the road makes it even tougher. Arkansas has visions of contending in the SEC West, but those visions will suffer if Cincinnati can come in and pick up a big upset win. While the Bearcats have to work in a new quarterback, the Razorbacks bring back K.J. Jefferson, and in addition to losing Ridder, Cincinnati lost eight other starters as well. Arkansas to win and cover.

Houston (-4) at UT-San Antonio (3:30 pm ET, CBS Sports

Houston has gotten all kinds of press coming into this season as the heir apparent to Cincinnati in the AAC and the next big program to come out of Texas. Their first game is against the defending Conference USA champions who bring back quarterback Frank Harris. Houston coach Dana Holgorsen has never really thought that defense is all that important, and that could play a huge role in this game. I think the Cougars come in a little cocky and end up paying the price. UT-San Antonio to cover.

Notre Dame (+17.5) at Ohio State (7:30 pm ET, ABC)

This line has jumped toward Ohio State significantly due to the skill players that the Buckeyes bring back at quarterback, tailback and wide receiver. However, the defense is installing a new system, and the Buckeyes have lost some home games to Power 5 opponents, as we saw last year when Oregon came to the Horseshoe. Notre Dame to cover.

→ Sunday, September 4

Florida State (+3) vs LSU (7:30 pm ET, ABC)

Florida State played in Week Zero, roling over Duquesne with their running game. LSU has a much better front seven than that FCS school does, but this will test what new LSU coach Brian Kelly has up front. Kelly also had to dig up a new quarterback and an offensive line. The Tigers should be able to control this matchup, but it could be a tight first half. LSU to win and cover.

→ Monday, September 5

Clemson (-21.5) at Georgia Tech (8:00 pm ET, ABC)

Last year, Georgia Tech went to Clemson and almost pulled off an unthinkable upset before falling, 14-8. This is a crazy spread given the lack of production that the Clemson offense showed last year. Georgia Tech might not make it into double figures, but they wil cover. Georgia Tech to cover
